Innovations For Prolonged
Skin-To-Skin Care
Skincubator incorporates a series of innovative solutions that enable immediate, prolonged skin-to-skin care from the first moments of life.
Designed for:
-
Fragile preterm infants under 2 kilograms,
-
During the first days and weeks of life,
-
When their condition is unstable,
-
and the need for human connection is most urgent.
Safe, easy, transfers

The challenge: to streamline transfers from the incubator to the caregiver with just one nurse, in a warm environment, without disturbing the infant.
Our solution: A proprietary transfer pad that enables warm, minimal handling, transfers from the incubator to the caregiver and back.
01
Frictionless Movement

The challenge: to materialize a transfer pad under a fragile preterm infant, with an underdeveloped skin layer, and without disturbing the infant at all.
Our solution: The Transfer Pad unfurls under the infant in a unique mechanism that prevents any friction and overcomes tensile forces applied, while avoiding disturbance to the infant or the parent.
02
Stable temperature and humidity

Skincubator maintains stable heat and humidity through several unique mechanisms of action, including reflection, conduction and thermal reflection of the infant and caregiver's body heat.
A 25-infant trial on very and extreme preterm infants confirms superior thermal stability and humidity during prolonged skin-to-skin care, compared to traditional skin-to-skin care.
Skincubator reduced hypothermia, improved environmental control, and enabled safe skin-to-skin care even in the earliest days of life.
03
Anchoring invasive lines and tubes

The challenge: to safely anchor all invasive and non-invasive lines and tubes during skin-to-skin care.
Our solution: Dynamic 360-degree multi-axis anchors ensure that all respiratory tubes and life-supporting lines are securely anchored during the intervention.
04
Multiple care and access ports

Multiple access ports enable direct communication between parent and baby, as well as easy access for clinicians to perform routine care procedures.
Secured developmental positioning

Safety straps anchor the infant's body and head. Developmental pillows can be added for the head, body, and feet, to maintain a midline head position and add resistance to the feet as needed. A dedicated gap for lines and tubes ensures they do not dislocate during the intervention.
Non-Toxic, Biocompatible Materials

All materials in the Skincubator device are commonly used in medical devices, and in addition have been rigorously tested for biocompatibility in the Skincubator use-case conditions, ensuring materials are safe for use and non-toxic.
SkinConnect:

"My baby was on a ventilator inside an incubator, connected to so many devices—it was terrifying, and I couldn’t even imagine how I could hold him at all. But a few days after the birth, Dr. Itamar Nitzan offered me to try the Skincubator, a mobile incubator that allows you to place your baby on your body, skin-to-skin. The moment they placed him on me, all the fear melted away. I felt safe, and I had a real connection with my baby. It was a powerful experience."
